Dr. John Shore, Energy Scholar

Dr. John Shore (Ph.D. Physics) has a background in information-science research (24 refereed papers), business (founded and built a speech-recognition software company that was acquired by Microsoft), government (Senior Advisor for Science and Technology to Senator Patrick Leahy), and non-profit (X PRIZE Foundation). He was a Senior Director of the Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE, serving as the project’s technical, scientific, and government-relations lead. He is currently Adjunct Professor of Physics and Energy Scholar at Georgetown University, where he is leading the design of Georgetown University Energy Prize, a competition that will challenge communities to achieve innovative, replicable, scalable and continual reductions in the energy consumed from local utilities.
